Reaching out and asking for help is a courageous act. If you select me as your therapist, I will work diligently to help you learn new skills and strategies to help you achieve your personal goals.
I am Tammie L. Fogal, a limited licensed psychologist. I am a mother and a grandmother. I grew up in Northern Michigan on a 120-acre farm that housed cattle, horses, pigs, chickens, sheep, cats, and dogs! I now reside in Central Michigan. I enjoy spending time with my family, caring for and riding horses, being a play toy for my new Australian shepherd, crafting, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. I graduated from Central Michigan University (CMU) with a bachelor’s degree in science, focusing on psychology and human development. My master’s degree in clinical psychology was also earned at CMU.
I have 20+ years of clinical experience in psychological treatment and psychological testing. I have experience in treatment methods spanning adjustment concerns, depression, anxiety, PTSD, behavioral issues, family concerns, grief, bullying, self-esteem issues, addiction, neurodiversity (ADHD; Autism; Intellectual disabilities), and academic difficulties (K-12 and college). I have also worked in the field of rehabilitation psychology assisting individuals with traumatic brain injury, stroke, sleep disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurophysiological concerns.
My businesses consultation includes psychological assessment for new employees, critical incident debriefing, and employee assistance programs. I provide teambuilding activities to improve company culture, help employees develop trust, develop new skills, and work together to achieve common objectives, all of which lead to less employee turnover and higher employee production outcomes.
I taught at Central Michigan University for 16 years. I loved working with the college students. The scope of my courses included helping students understand brain behavior relationships and how the brain learns best to master academic coursework. We discussed adjustment issues that are experienced throughout college and the challenges those adjustments may create, such as psychological distress and addiction concerns. There was a huge focus on time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking strategies. My students learned how to establish goals, ways to make decisions to lead a healthy lifestyle, and ensuring their choices today were leading to tomorrow’s successes. Specific psychology courses taught were Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Psychology of Women.
